Submission Guidelines
We welcome pitches from writers, researchers and subject matter experts with deep knowledge of Asian affairs. Articles should offer original analysis, on-the-ground reporting or fresh perspectives on developments shaping the region.
Before you pitch: Read several recent issues to understand our editorial voice and the stories we publish. We prioritize nuanced, well-reported pieces that challenge conventional wisdom and illuminate underexplored angles.
What to include in your pitch: A concise summary of your proposed article (2-3 paragraphs), explaining why it matters now and what makes your approach distinctive. Include relevant clips or credentials that demonstrate your expertise on the subject.
Article specifications: Submissions should be 800-1,000 words, written in English following AP style. Include a proposed headline and subheading. Articles must be original work not published or under consideration elsewhere.
Fact-checking: Writers are responsible for the accuracy of all facts, quotes and data. Include a list of sources with your submission.
Payment: We pay competitive rates upon publication. First-time contributors are paid on acceptance.
Rights: Inside Asia purchases first publication rights and digital archival rights.
Response time: We aim to respond to pitches within two weeks. Due to volume, we cannot respond to all submissions.
We look forward to hearing from you.
